Police caught Suresh Porulippadam, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker, in Palani, Tamil Nadu. He was absconding after an alleged attack on a 65-year-old woman in Alathur early Friday. Suresh broke into the woman’s home while she was asleep and tried to rape her. The woman raised an alarm, forcing him to escape. He faces charges of attempted rape and attempted murder. Police said Suresh was seen drinking publicly with two others on Thursday night. They damaged flex boards of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI). Suresh’s alleged helpers, Vishnu and Aravind, also BJP workers, were arrested but later released on bail. The BJP denied any link to Suresh. The DYFI responded by sharing photos and news to prove his party ties. Meanwhile, DYFI arranged a safe place for the elderly victim. The incident sparked strong reactions in the area.
