Six youth were arrested on Sunday by Ranipet Town police for selling 153 narcotic tablets (Tapentadol) in Ammur village near Arcot. The suspects are S. Ayyappan, 24; K. Hari, 28; B. Harish Kumar, 24; G. Sanjay, 22; N. Rajsekar, 25; and C. Abilesh, 25. The police acted after a tip-off to Superintendent of Police Ayman Jamal. Special teams were formed to do surprise checks in public places like bus stops, railway stations, and isolated buildings. During a check near Arcot town, officers were alerted about suspicious activity at a rundown building in Ammur village where the suspects gathered for days. The police quickly went there and arrested them. Investigation revealed the gang ordered the narcotic tablets from pharmacies in Mumbai. The drugs were shipped by courier. Authorities tracked the suspects' mobile phones before arresting them near Arcot. A case has been registered. The accused are now held at the Central Prison in Vellore. The police continue their probe.
