A lorry carrying beer from Karnataka overturned early Monday in Kozhikode after colliding with a Telangana-registered car. The driver, Akhil Krishnan (30) from Pulpally, Wayanad, died in the accident around 4 am near Iringadanpalli junction. Police said the car was driven negligently, causing the collision. The impact caused the lorry to overturn, spilling more than 700 boxes of beer bottles onto the road. Rescue teams worked for almost an hour to pull Krishnan from the vehicle. He was taken to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital, where he was declared dead. Over 20 police officers are guarding the site to stop people from taking the scattered bottles. The spilled beer will be cleared after the Excise department completes paperwork. Police have registered a case against the car driver, and an investigation is ongoing.
