Bengaluru Minimum Temperature Falls 3-4°C Amid Clear Skies This Week
January 5, 2026
Bengaluru is feeling the chill with minimum temperatures falling by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius in the last few days. On Monday at 8.30 a.m., the city observatory recorded 14.9°C, HAL Airport stood at 15°C, and Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) dipped to 13.8°C. Last week, temperatures were warmer, between 17°C and 19°C. For example, on January 2, city observatory had 19.1°C, HAL Airport was at 18.1°C, and KIA at 17.6°C.
IMD scientist C.S. Patil explained, "There has been a drop in the minimum temperatures in Bengaluru and several other districts in the last couple of days which is expected to last for two or three days after which the temperature is once again expected to increase." The IMD attributes this dip to clear night skies. Patil said, "The drop in temperatures is due to clear skies at night. When there are no clouds to trap the heat there will be a drop in temperatures."
The coldest January temperature ever recorded in Bengaluru was 7.8°C on January 13, 1884. Last year, the lowest minimum for January was 12.6°C on January 4, 2025.
