AP High Court Orders Fresh TTD Counting Plan, CID to Probe Police in Currency Theft
January 6, 2026
The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, instructed the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) to prepare a new action plan for currency counting at Parakamani. The court noted that TTD's current instructions do not address earlier court remarks about frisking devotees during counting and the arrangement of tables.
Additionally, the court allowed the CID to take action against police officers accused of involvement in a conspiracy to steal foreign currency, as reported by TTD. The case status will be reviewed in the next hearing set for January 8.
The court's directions came after TTD's counsel said he would consult the executive officer and submit a response by the next hearing date.
