This Pongal, Chef Gokul Kumar Mohit, known as Chef Goku, partners with Molasses to celebrate Tamil Nadu’s rich harvest tradition. The event, Pongal Thiruvizha Virundhu, is a farm-to-table feast held at Molasses, Thindivanam, on January 16 from 12 noon to 5 pm. Chef Goku shares, "Every grain carries the memory of the soil." Ingredients come directly from farms in villages across Thanjavur, Palakkad, Coimbatore, Madurai, and Thindivanam. The menu features authentic village harvest recipes served on traditional banana leaves (ela sappad). It is mostly vegetarian, with two rural-style non-vegetarian dishes: nattu kozhi kuzhambu and eral thokku. Highlights include poovan samba koottan choru, kuru milagu ven pongal with thalagam made from seven local vegetables, ilam manjal pirandai thuvayal, and payaru sundal. Guests start with panakam, a jaggery and dry ginger drink. Desserts like payasam and kavuni arisi sakkara pongal with karupatti sweeten the meal. Beyond food, the event invites visitors to join traditional Pongal farm activities, decorate and feed cows, paint the pongal pot, and stroll the farm to experience the farm-to-table spirit. Chef Goku calls the feast "a celebration of the sun, soil, rice and resilience; the enduring spirit of the Tamil harvest." Entry costs ₹1800, covering meals and activities.
