One Dead, Three Injured as Sabarimala Pilgrims' Car Hits Lorry on MC Road

A tragic accident occurred early Wednesday on the Muvattupuzha–Perumbavoor stretch of MC Road. A car carrying Sabarimala pilgrims collided head-on with a container lorry at Thrikkalathoor in Muvattupuzha around 5:30 a.m. The crash killed 51-year-old Cheerela Ashok Kumar, from Vanasthalipuram, Telangana. Three others—Mokedu Rajasekhar, 41, Cheerela Dheeraj, 18, and Pradeep Kumar, 31—were injured. All are from Rangareddy district, Telangana. Police said the car driver might have dozed off, causing the accident. The injured were taken to two hospitals and are in stable condition. The pilgrims were returning after darshan at the Sabarimala temple when the crash happened.
