Subbanna Ayyappan, the first non-crop scientist to lead ICAR, was discovered dead in the Cauvery River near Srirangapatna, Mandya, just 20 km from Mysuru. The police confirmed his body recovery on Saturday after it was found floating in the river. There was no suspicion of foul play, as his two-wheeler was parked nearby. Ayyappan, survived by his wife and two daughters, had gone missing on May 7. The police initiated an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding his death. Utilizing CCTV footage, the authorities tracked Ayyappan's movements to Srirangapatna, scouring all meditation centers in the vicinity due to his meditation inclinations. It was revealed that Ayyappan had ridden his two-wheeler to Srirangapatna.
