The Telangana Drug Control Administration (DCA) issued a stop use notice on January 10, 2026, for a batch of Almont-Kid Syrup. The batch AL-24002, made in January 2025 by Tridus Remedies in Bihar, tested positive for toxic Ethylene Glycol (EG). This syrup is normally given to children for allergy symptoms like runny nose, sneezing, itching, swelling, and congestion. The warning came after tests by the CDSCO, East Zone, Kolkata. Shahnawaz Qasim, DG of DCA, said, "All Drugs Inspectors and Assistant Directors across the State have been directed to immediately alert all retailers, wholesalers, distributors, and hospitals to freeze any available stocks of the said product batch and ensure that the same are not dispensed or sold under any circumstances." The public is warned to stop using this syrup immediately if they have it and report it to the nearest Drugs Control Authority. The DCA has set up a toll-free helpline number 1800-599-6969, available on weekdays from 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to assist the public.
