The Transport Department in Kurnool has issued a strong warning to bus operators against hiking ticket prices during the festival season. Deputy Transport Commissioner S. Shantha Kumari directed contract carriage and tourist bus operators to avoid exploiting passengers by increasing fares amid the rush. She also ordered operators to assign a second driver to every service and follow all road safety regulations strictly. "Cases will be registered against bus managements, if they do not follow road safety norms," Ms. Shantha Kumari stated clearly. Additionally, all buses must carry valid documents including fitness certificates, permits, insurance, and pollution control certificates. Safety features like emergency exits, fire extinguishers, safety hammers, and first aid kits are mandatory. Bus operators must also display a helpline number, 9281607001, inside every bus for passenger assistance. The move aims to protect passengers from unfair practices and ensure safer travel during busy festival times.
