January 11, 2026
On Sunday in Bagalkot, the seer of Basava Dharma Peetha Mathe, Ganga Devi, said that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah should be allowed to complete his full term. She praised Siddaramaiah as a follower of Basavanna’s ideals and said his leadership benefits the State. "Mr. Siddaramaiah has strong belief in Basavanna’s ideology. Like the former Chief Minister late D. Devraj Urs, he is working for the uplift of the downtrodden," she said. While also appreciating Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar as a good leader, she stressed that it is in the State's interest that Siddaramaiah continues as Chief Minister. Ganga Devi further announced that Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the 37th Sharana Mela in Kudalasangama on Tuesday. The event will feature resource persons, seers, and community leaders discussing issues related to Basavanna’s Vachanas and other Sharanas. Attendees will include Guru Mahant Swami of Ilkal Chittaragi Math, Basavalinga Pattaddevaru of Bhalki Math, Minister Eshwar Khandre, and MLA Narendra Swami. The seer's support highlights the CM's connection to Basavanna's philosophy and his role in Karnataka's social progress.
