Kudumbashree Launches 50 Meat Point Takeaway Counters Across Kerala
January 12, 2026
The Kudumbashree Mission is entering the food service business again with takeaway counters across Kerala. These counters, called 'Meat Point,' will serve breakfast, dinner, tea, and snacks. The first phase will see 50 counters open statewide.
Kudumbashree will give ₹75,000 financial support for each outlet. Beneficiaries will add the remaining amount from their own funds or community loans at 4% interest. The beneficiaries will be selected by Kudumbashree’s district missions from community development societies (CDS). Each unit must have at least two members and members from neighbourhood or auxiliary groups can also join.
The counters will be set up in areas of 100-150 sq ft inside panchayat, municipality, or corporation limits. Uniform designs will be used for colour, interiors, furniture, and equipment.
Besides non-vegetarian dishes, Kudumbashree will partner with Meat Products of India (MPI) to offer popular Kerala Chicken brand items. These include broasted chicken, chicken nuggets, kebabs, momos, samosas, chicken 65, lollipops, breaded pops, and meatballs. Vegetarian options will also be available.
Training for beneficiaries on cooking, packaging, hygiene, bookkeeping, and marketing is complete. In the capital district, four Meat Point takeaways will open soon: two in the city corporation area, one in Nedumangad, and one in Varkala.
The launch of Meat Point counters is expected within two weeks, marking a fresh boost in Kerala's food service sector.
