The BJP State unit has extended its support for changing Kerala's name to Keralam. BJP State president Rajeev Chandrasekhar said the party will "fully support all the steps taken by the State government to officially maintain and protect the name and identity of ‘Keralam’, which is closely associated with the Malayalam language heritage of the State." On June 24, 2023, the Kerala Legislative Assembly unanimously passed a resolution to propose a constitutional amendment for the name change. The resolution was introduced by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. This move reflects the state's desire to reinforce its cultural and linguistic identity.
