The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 270 kg of mephedrone, a synthetic narcotic drug, during a two-day operation across multiple states. The drugs were cleverly hidden inside a consignment of chicken feed to avoid detection. The seizure took place on the Deedwana-Kuchaman State highway in Rajasthan. "A detailed examination led to the recovery of 270 kg of mephedrone ingeniously concealed within a consignment of chicken feed," said a DRI spokesperson on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. The truck driver, syndicate members involved in transport, and escorts were caught on the spot. Further searches in Haryana arrested other key members linked to manufacturing and supply. Some raw materials were found at a dismantled secret drug factory. The spokesperson added, "The operation was logistically challenging, involving sustained efforts, interstate coordination, and precise execution to intercept the movement of the contraband." The bust has disrupted a large, multi-state narcotics syndicate. In the current financial year, the DRI has busted six illegal drug factories making mephedrone, alprazolam, and methamphetamine in Wardha, Hyderabad, and Greater Noida. The agency continues intelligence-led actions to fight drug trafficking networks.
