Government Victoria College Celebrates Pongal and Thiruvalluvar Day with Cultural Festivities

Government Victoria College celebrated the Pongal festival on Wednesday. The event also honored poet-philosopher Thiruvalluvar on Thiruvalluvar Day. The celebration was organized by Kalakshetra Kala Sahitya Vedi and the Department of Tamil. Pongal was prepared and shared with all students and teachers on campus.
The festival included cultural programs such as folk songs, Tamil solo and group songs, and dramas. A poem titled "Muthan Muthalai Ammavukku" was picturised for the occasion. A one-act play "Athi Rathanil Azhukai" by P.V. Sahadevan, which condemns caste discrimination, was performed.
The function was inaugurated by Sujana Banu, head of the Tamil department. P.V. Sahadevan also handed out certificates to actors of the "Dheeran Chinnamalai" drama. The event was presided over by Guruji Guruvayurappan, president of Kalakshetra Kala Vedi.
Teachers S. Radha, R. Vanita, T. Sunita, Uma Maheswari, and student representatives M. Azharudheen, Sunil Kallepully, and Jayan Asksharakala also spoke during the event.
