Delhi Records Coldest Morning of Season at 2.9°C Amid Persisting Cold Wave
January 15, 2026
On January 15, 2026, Delhi shivered through its coldest morning of the season. Safdarjung, the main weather station, recorded a low of 2.9°C, the coldest January minimum since 2023's 1.4°C. Palam station reported 2.3°C, the lowest there since 2010. Lodhi Road and Ayanagar saw temperatures of 3.4°C and 2.7°C respectively, while the Ridge station recorded 4.5°C.
All weather stations across Delhi showed temperatures well below normal. This confirms the ongoing cold wave that has gripped the city for four days and is expected to continue tomorrow. The day's maximum temperature is predicted to be around 21°C.
Delhi's air quality remained troubling. The Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 349, placing it in the 'very poor' category, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). An AQI above 300 is considered very harmful to health.
Citizens are advised to stay warm and take precautions due to the cold wave and poor air quality affecting Delhi.
