On January 16, 2026, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 57 of the 115 seats in the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation elections. The All India Majlis E Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) came in as the second largest party with 33 seats. The BJP contested 93 seats and won 57. The Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena contested 96 seats but could secure only 13. The BJP and Shiv Sena fought the elections separately. Shiv Sena (UBT) won 6 seats, Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi won four, while Congress and NCP(SP) won one seat each. In comparison, during the 2015 elections, the undivided Shiv Sena had won 29 of 113 seats, and the BJP had 22 seats. AIMIM had won 25 seats then. The new results mark a significant shift in this local political landscape.
