Union Home Minister Amit Shah honoured the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on its Raising Day, January 19, 2026. He called the NDRF "the pillar of trust the nation relies on during calamities." In his post on X, Mr. Shah said, "Through its significant role in realising the Modi govt's resolve to build a disaster-resilient India, the NDRF has today become the pillar of trust the nation relies on during calamities. Salute to the martyrs who sacrificed themselves for the safety of others." Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed deep gratitude for the NDRF’s hard work. In a separate post on X, he lauded their “professionalism and resolve” and said, “Always at the forefront when a calamity strikes, NDRF personnel work tirelessly to protect lives, provide relief and restore hope under the most challenging circumstances.” Mr. Modi praised their skills and duty as the “highest standard of service.” He noted that the NDRF has become a global benchmark for disaster preparedness and response, stating, "Their skills and sense of duty exemplify the highest standards of service. Over the years, the NDRF has emerged as a benchmark in disaster preparedness and response, earning much respect internationally."
