Hyderabad Police Registers 100+ Cybercrime FIRs in 10 Days with AI-Powered C-Mitra Helpdesk
January 19, 2026
The Hyderabad City Police’s C-Mitra virtual helpdesk has registered more than 100 cybercrime FIRs within ten days of its January 9 launch. The helpdesk contacted around 1,000 victims across the city to speed up reporting of online fraud and cyber offences. Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar launched the initiative to make complaint filing easier and faster.
C-Mitra team members make about 100 calls daily to victims who reported cases via the 1930 helpline or the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal. After gathering details, Artificial Intelligence is used to draft a legal complaint. This draft is then sent to victims through WhatsApp or email. Victims print, sign, and send the document by post or courier to the Cyber Crime Police Station in Basheerbagh.
Once the signed copy is received, the FIR is registered immediately. A copy is sent directly to the victim’s phone, removing the need to visit the police station or wait in long queues.
To keep C-Mitra running smoothly, the Cyber Crime Wing has a 24-member team working in two shifts from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Constables Deekshita and Prithvika, part of the team, said the program helps reduce public hesitation to approach police. They noted it simplifies complaint drafting and legal understanding by mixing technology and personal help for victims.
