Saudi Education Ministry Unveils Second Semester Calendar with Ramadan Adjustments and Summer Break Dates
January 20, 2026
The Ministry of Education in Saudi Arabia has released the full schedule for the second semester of the current academic year. The semester will run until Thursday, Muharram 10, 1448 AH, with a total of 92 school days planned across the Kingdom. Certain regions will follow special arrangements, stretching the semester over 19 weeks with fewer school days to respect the spiritual significance of Ramadan.
During Ramadan, only 11 school days are approved, considering fasting and religious practices. The academic calendar also features three breaks totaling 28 days.
Four official holidays are set: Founder's Day on February 22 (5th of Ramadan), Eid al-Fitr starting at school end on Thursday, Ramadan 17, and Eid al-Adha starting at school end on Thursday, the 4th of Dhu al-Hijjah, lasting 10 days. For the education departments in Makkah, Madinah, Jeddah, and Taif, Eid al-Adha begins earlier at the end of the school day on Thursday, Dhul Qadah 27.
Summer vacation starts at the end of the school day on Thursday, Muharram 10, 1448 AH. However, in Makkah, Madinah, Jeddah, and Taif, it will begin a week later, on Thursday, Muharram 17, 1448 AH.
