The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday refused bail to G.T. Dinesh Kumar, former commissioner of Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA). He is accused in the MUDA scam under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2000. Justice S. Sunil Dutt Yadav dismissed Kumar's bail plea. Kumar was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on September 16, 2025, and remains in judicial custody. The court found no faults in the arrest procedure. It agreed that the ED’s investigation is still ongoing, even though the first investigation report has been filed. Kumar’s bail request on medical grounds was also denied. The court noted that prison hospital care is available for his health issues. Though Kumar has been in custody for 127 days, the court cited Supreme Court rulings and said no immediate intervention is needed now. However, the court gave Kumar permission to approach it again for bail after three months.
