Amaravati Revives 60 Old Tamarind Trees During E-15 Road Expansion
January 21, 2026
In a green move, Amaravati Development Corporation Limited (ADCL) saved 60 tamarind trees, each about 60 years old, while expanding the E-15 Road linking Nidamarru and Mangalagiri. Normally, trees blocking roads get cut or trimmed heavily. But ADCL chose to protect these old trees. ADCL Chairperson and Managing Director D. Lakshmi Parthasarathy said experts carefully moved the trees using earth-movers and trolley lorries. They cleaned roots, pruned branches, and shifted the trees to a nearby site for 30 days to help new root growth. After stabilizing, the trees were replanted at their original spots on the widened E-15 Road. About 20 trees were replanted along the E-12 Road too. Officials said, "The trees have since regained life," promising shade, cool air, and better ecological balance for the area.
