Bingo Circus is currently running in Visakhapatnam, setting up its traditional tented arena at the Vepagunta grounds on Pendurthi Road. Started 17 years ago by Sunil Chauhan, a fourth-generation circus owner, the show travels with 104 crew members living and working in tents. The circus offers around 28 acts each show, featuring thrilling routines like trapeze, globe riding, and scarf hanging that rely on skill and experience without digital effects. The circus runs three shows daily at 1pm, 4pm, and 7pm, with tickets available at the venue and on BookMyShow. Sunil Chauhan admits, "Circus is not what it used to be," but emphasizes the deep roots of this ancestral profession supporting over 100 families. Challenges have grown, especially after the pandemic, with fewer new artists joining or staying due to the tough lifestyle. Senior performers mostly continue because they want to shield their children from the hardships. Chauhan believes live circus acts still inspire young audiences, showing them lives of discipline and perseverance beyond screens. Bingo Circus is currently touring Andhra Pradesh and will move to Vizianagaram next month, maintaining its traditional charm with some new twists to stay relevant. The circus is a rare glimpse into an art form that combines tradition, skill, and sheer grit.
