The central government approved wage revisions for PSU General Insurance companies and NABARD workers. Pension revisions were also cleared for RBI and NABARD retirees. A total of 46,322 employees, 23,570 pensioners, and 23,260 family pensioners will benefit. The Finance Ministry announced this on Friday, January 23, 2026. Wage revision for PSU General Insurance companies will be effective from August 1, 2022. The total cost will be ₹8,170.30 crore. This includes ₹5,822.68 crore as wage arrears, ₹250.15 crore for the National Pension System (NPS), and ₹2,097.47 crore for family pension. For NABARD, the wage revision starts November 1, 2022. It will add around ₹170 crore annually to the wage bill and ₹510 crore in arrears payments. Pension revision at NABARD means a one-time arrear payment of ₹50.82 crore. It also means an extra ₹3.55 crore in monthly pension payments for 269 pensioners and 457 family pensioners. Pension and family pension for RBI retirees will increase by 10% on basic pension plus dearness relief from November 1, 2022. The cost of this pension revision is ₹2,696.82 crore, including ₹2,485.02 crore arrears and ₹211.80 crore recurring annual expenditure. The government move aims to benefit tens of thousands of employees and retirees with improved wages and pensions.
