Massive Fire Rages Through Plastic Warehouse Near Dindigul, Firefighters Battle for Hours
January 23, 2026
Early on Friday morning, around 5 a.m., a major fire erupted at a plastic warehouse near Chinnapallapatti on the Dindigul-Batlagundu Road. The warehouse, owned by Arif, stored waste and old plastic materials for supply to plastic factories. Because of the large plastic stock, the fire spread rapidly. Local residents alerted the Dindigul Fire and Rescue Services. Firefighters arrived quickly but battling the flames was tough due to the inflammable plastic. More fire engines arrived from Vedasanthur and Athoor stations to help. In total, five fire engines and around 30 firefighters worked for over four hours to control the blaze. Officials later confirmed the fire was finally contained. The fire caused heavy property damage, but exact loss figures are not yet known. The Dindigul Taluk Police have registered a case and are investigating the incident to find the fire's cause.
