A 51-year-old woman from Tamil Nadu donated her kidneys and corneas to four patients in Kerala after being declared brain-dead. L.P. Rajeshwari, from Gopichettipalayam, Erode, was hospitalized since January 17 due to severe headaches and high blood pressure. She suffered a cerebral haemorrhage and was moved to a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram on January 18 night. Despite expert care, brain death was confirmed on January 22. Her family willingly agreed to donate her organs. The organ donation and transplant process was coordinated by K-SOTTO. This generous act gave a new lease of life to four patients waiting for organ transplants in Kerala.
