The Kerala State government has approved a loan of ₹8.57 crore for Kudumbashree members affected by the Meppadi landslide in Wayanad. This decision came after the Executive Director of Kudumbashree proposed the plan, which the State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) approved. The loan will be given to 437 affected members. Kerala Gramin Bank, Kerala Bank, Bank of Baroda, and the Central Bank of India will provide the funding. The total interest on the loan is around ₹1.94 crore, including the moratorium period. The State government stated that this interest amount will be paid from the Chief Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund, ensuring no extra burden on the borrowers. This support aims to help those who faced losses due to the landslide recover swiftly. The government issued this order to aid the rehabilitation process in the affected areas.
