Ex-IPS R.S. Praveen Kumar Gets Midnight SIT Notice in Phone Tapping Case
January 24, 2026
HYDERABAD: Former IPS officer and BRS general secretary R.S. Praveen Kumar said he was served a midnight notice by the SIT in the phone-tapping case. He alleged this was done on orders of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. The notice came after Kumar said that V.C. Sajjanar had no moral right to lead the SIT. Speaking at Shayampet in Hanamkonda on Saturday, Kumar said, "My statement was based on the information I had. I did not resort to any character assassination." He challenged Sajjanar to prove he has no cases against him. Kumar pointed out that on June 9, 2015, cases were filed in Andhra Pradesh accusing Sajjanar of illegal phone tapping after the cash-for-vote scandal. He called the notice a government attempt to divert attention and said, "How long will the government continue this drama with notices?" Kumar also accused CM Revanth Reddy of working with Andhra Pradesh to divert Godavari and Krishna river water to non-basin areas using the Banakacherla Regulator under the guise of flood control.
