Around 20,000 people gathered at Adikavi Nannaya University near Rajamahendravaram on Saturday. They sang the national song Vande Mataram to celebrate its 150th anniversary. The crowd included students from the university, affiliated colleges, and civil society members. Before the singing, Minister for Tourism and Culture Kandula Durgesh, Vice-Chancellor S. Prasanna Sree, and Rajamahendravaram Urban Development Authority Chairman B. Venkata Ramana Chowdary led a rally. They carried a huge 25,000-square-foot national flag across the campus. In his speech, Minister Durgesh said, "Vande Mataram, penned by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, would continue to inspire future generations." He also remembered the role of Pingali Venkaiah in the freedom struggle, especially his work designing the national flag. This soulful event honored the strong cultural and historical significance of the song. The gathering showed the pride and love people hold for this iconic anthem.
