The BJP has announced a committee to prepare its election manifesto for the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections. Former TMC MLA Ashok Lahiri is the convener, with Asansol Dakshin MLA Agnimitra Paul as co-convener. Other members include MP Manoj Tigga, Swapan Dasgupta, and senior leaders from diverse backgrounds. The party aims to bring strong political and policy experience to its campaign. Ahead of elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit West Bengal on January 30 and 31. He will lead key meetings to review election readiness. This follows his December 2025 visit to Kolkata. Newly elected BJP president Nitin Nabin will also visit the state on January 27. It will be his first trip after taking office. Nabin plans to visit BJP strongholds Durgapur and Asansol. Despite not matching their 2019 Lok Sabha success in the 2024 polls, BJP is gearing up hard for the state polls.
