Seven Telangana Stars Win Padma Shri for Science, Medicine, Arts & More

Seven prominent personalities from Telangana have been honoured with the Padma Shri this year. The awards recognize their outstanding work in science, engineering, medicine, arts, research, and the cooperative movement.
Among the winners is Chandramouli Gaddamanugu, a top scientist and former Project Director at DRDO. He was key in developing the Akash missile system, boosting India's defence strength. Senior scientist Krishnamurty Balasubramanian earned the award for his pioneering research in advanced materials.
In medicine, Palkonda Vijay Anand Reddy, director and senior oncologist at Apollo Cancer Centre, and G.V. Rao, director of Surgical Gastroenterology and GI Oncology at AIG Hospitals, received the award for their medical expertise.
Kumarasamy Thangaraj, a senior scientist heading a research group at CCMB, is internationally honored for his work in human genetics. Rama Reddy Mamidi was recognized for modernizing animal husbandry and strengthening Telangana's cooperative movement. The arts category saw classical Kuchipudi dancer Deepika Reddy honoured for popularizing the dance nationally and internationally.
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy congratulated all awardees, promising state felicitation upon his return from the U.S. He also expressed delight that State government adviser and renowned oncologist Nori Dattatreyudu received the Padma Bhushan.
Other notable Telugu recipients include former UGC chairman Mamidala Jagadish Kumar, actor Murali Mohan, and actor Rajendra Prasad, who also earned Padma awards this year.
