The US announced multi-day military exercises in the Middle East as it sent an "armada" led by the USS Abraham Lincoln to confront rising tensions with Iran. Air Forces Central said the drills will showcase the ability to deploy, disperse, and sustain airpower in the region. The exercises aim to strengthen partnerships and prepare the US for flexible responses. Precise dates, locations, and participating forces remain undisclosed. The USS Abraham Lincoln, carrying nearly 5,000 sailors and several dozen fighter jets, arrived with missile destroyers for protection. The US also moved F-15E Strike Eagle jets to the area, capable of striking Iran, accompanied by the UK's Typhoon jets in a defensive role. This deployment is the first aircraft carrier presence in the region since October. CENTCOM said the carrier’s mission is to promote regional security and stability. Former President Donald Trump called this fleet a "big armada next to Iran," but said Iran also wants talks. He warned of strikes if Iran executes mass protests but later noted that the killings had stopped. Human Rights groups estimate nearly 6,000 killed in Iran's crackdown, while Iran admits over 3,100 deaths. Internet blackouts have obscured full details. CENTCOM will work with Middle Eastern countries, including Bahrain, in defensive drills against drone attacks. However, some US allies like the UAE refuse to let their airspace or waters be used for attacks on Iran, calling for neutrality and stability. The US assured all activities would respect host-nation sovereignty and safety.
