Woman Shot and Burned After Fake Puppy Sale in South Carolina; Three Arrested
January 30, 2026
A South Carolina woman was killed after being lured to a fake puppy sale, police said. Dana Kinlaw, 40, was invited by her friend Iryanna Jarissa Fleming, 19, to a rural house under the promise of buying a puppy. Once there, Kinlaw was shot in the head. Then, a liquid was poured on her body and set on fire inside a vehicle. Authorities found the burning vehicle on January 22 near Atlantic Road in Effingham, South Carolina. The Florence County Sheriff, TJ Joye, said the killing was an act of retaliation connected to another murder in nearby Darlington County. Kinlaw's son was believed to be involved in that earlier crime. Two suspects, Fleming and Daquinn Taheen Thomas, 31, were arrested on January 23. They face charges of murder, first-degree arson, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Later, a third suspect, Nikko Carraway, 31, was also arrested and charged with the same crimes. All three are held without bond. The investigation is still ongoing, and more charges may be filed, police said.
