Three Girls Drown in Open Well While Washing Clothes in Ranipet

Three girls, including two siblings, drowned after slipping into an open well in Aroor village near Arcot town, Ranipet on Saturday. Police identified the victims as A. Yuvasri (13), A. Priyanka (12), and V. Priya (13). Yuvasri and Priyanka are siblings studying in classes eight and seven, while Priya is Yuvasri’s classmate at Panchayat Union Middle School. According to police, the girls went to the well to wash clothes, including their school uniforms. They placed their clothes on the well’s bund and likely tried to step closer. The well, about 40 feet deep and surrounded by slippery mud, caused the girls to slip and drown. When they did not return, their parents searched and found slippers and clothes near the well. Vazhapanthal police and firefighters were alerted and retrieved the bodies from the well. A case has been registered and an investigation is ongoing.
