A Bangladesh court on Monday, February 2, 2026, sentenced former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to 10 years in prison for corruption related to land allocation. The Dhaka Special Judge’s Court-4 gave her two five-year sentences in separate cases. The charges stem from alleged irregularities in the Rajuk New Town Project's housing land distribution. Hasina, 78, was sentenced along with her nephew Radwan Mujib Siddiq and nieces Tulip Rizwana Siddiq and Azmina Siddiq. Tulip received a four-year prison term, while Radwan and Azmina were each sentenced to seven years. Rajuk member Mohammad Khurshid Alam, who surrendered, got two one-year sentences. All convicted were fined Tk1 lakh each, with an additional six months in jail if they fail to pay. The cases were filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission, accusing the accused of abusing power and violating Rajuk rules in allocating two 10-katha plots. Sheikh Hasina has been living in India since fleeing Bangladesh on August 5 last year amid mass protests and was declared a fugitive by the court.
