Karnataka Files FIR Over Fake SSLC Exam Papers Shared on Instagram
February 2, 2026
The Karnataka Department of School Education has filed a complaint about fake SSLC exam question papers being circulated on Instagram. The posts showed images claiming to be from the First Language Kannada and Mathematics papers on January 27 and 28 during ongoing board exams. The department verified these images and confirmed they were fake. Officials said the posts misled students and parents and may have been used to demand money falsely. These acts harm the exam system’s credibility, said the department, which is seeking legal action against the culprits. Based on the complaint by Krishnaji S. Karichannavar, Director (Secondary), the Central division cyber crime police filed an FIR on January 29 against unknown persons. The charges include forgery, public mischief, and violations under the IT Act. Earlier in January, the North division cyber crime police arrested eight people, including six teachers, linked to a question paper leak and questioned two students.
