Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara announced on Monday that 196 illegal Bangladeshi immigrants have been deported from the state so far. Another 370 have been identified and legal steps are underway to deport them. This information was shared in the Legislative Assembly during the debate on the Governor's address. Responding to BJP's claim that the state government was slow in tackling illegal immigration, Dr. Parameshwara said, "the Congress government had identified and deported more such illegal immigrants than the erstwhile BJP government." He also blamed the NDA government at the Centre for allowing illegal Bangladeshi immigration into India. On Karnataka’s law and order situation, the Home Minister highlighted the India Justice Report, which rated Karnataka as the top state for maintaining law and order. This comes as the state continues its drive against illegal immigration amid political debates.
