Supreme Court Grants Bail in Pune Porsche Blood Sample Tampering Case, Families Express Shock
February 3, 2026
The Supreme Court granted bail to three accused involved in tampering with blood samples after the deadly 2024 Pune Porsche accident. This sent shockwaves to the family of one victim, Anish Awadhiya, who called it a grave injustice. On May 19, 2024, a Porsche driven by a 17-year-old under the influence hit and killed two IT professionals, Anish Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta, in Pune's Kalyani Nagar area.
The accused freed on bail are Amar Santish Gaikwad, the alleged middleman who took ₹3 lakh to manipulate blood reports, and Aditya Avinash Sood and Ashish Satish Mittal, parents of two juveniles who were in the car.
The court stated, "Parents are to be blamed for such incidents involving juveniles as they don't have control over their children." The accused had been jailed for 18 months.
Anish's grandfather said, "Since the main accused belonged to a wealthy family, fraudulent means were adopted from the very beginning to protect the man." Anish's father added, "We want the bail to be cancelled for the sake of justice."
Earlier, the Juvenile Justice Board's lenient bail for the minor accused, including a requirement to write a 300-word road safety essay, caused nationwide outrage. The Pune police later pushed for a stricter order, sending the juvenile to an observation home, from where he was eventually released by the high court in June 2024.
Alongside the juvenile, 10 accused including parents of the juveniles, hospital staff, and middlemen have spent time in jail concerning the blood sample swapping case.
