Dharwad Activists Demand Better Facilities and Safety at R.N. Shetty Stadium
February 3, 2026
On February 2, members of Dharwad Jan Jagruti Abhiyan submitted a memorandum demanding basic facilities at R.N. Shetty Stadium. A delegation led by advocates M.B. Huded and Akshay Urmundin, along with Dr. Mallikarjun and Sharan Patil, met the Dharwad tahsildar to raise their concerns. They said hundreds visit the stadium for walking, jogging, and sports. However, the infrastructure is poor and not usable. The memorandum pointed out the absence of clean drinking water. The single toilet and two urinals are in bad condition and unfit for use. The group demanded the construction of proper, hygienic toilets without delay. They also raised alarm over stray dogs entering the stadium and biting visitors multiple times. They urged immediate action to ensure public safety. The tahsildar promised to take these concerns to higher authorities for quick action.
