Bengaluru Siblings Traced After Traveling 350 Km Using Free Bus Travel Scheme
February 4, 2026
A 13-year-old girl and her nine-year-old brother ran away from home in Bengaluru after their parents scolded them for skipping tuition classes. The siblings used their Aadhaar cards to travel free on government buses under the Shakti scheme. The girl bought a ticket for herself but took her brother without a ticket. They traveled all the way to Bhadravati in Shivamogga district. When the children did not return, worried parents filed a missing complaint at HAL police station. Police quickly alerted stations across Karnataka and shared details on social media. CCTV footage showed the siblings leaving their home with a bag and heading to the Majestic bus terminal, where they boarded a bus to Shivamogga. Locals in Bhadravati spotted the children and informed police, leading to their safe return. The siblings were reunited with their parents after counselling. The case was reported from Ashwathnagar under HAL police limits and concluded on February 3.
