The Andhra Pradesh Government has recently asked its employees to update their transfer details, including Andhra Pradesh nativity data, for those seeking transfers to Telangana services. The deadline to submit this information is February 9. This data will be sent to the Telangana Government for review and policy decisions. Telangana officials expressed serious concerns. They said transfers should be limited to the same services and categories. Transfers across different departments could harm service conditions, promotion chances, and may lead to legal disputes. Previously, Andhra Pradesh requested the transfer of 1,241 local employees, many in high-ranking posts like additional commissioner and joint commissioner. Telangana rejected this, saying it would hurt promotional opportunities and recruitment for Telangana employees. An official noted, "The proposal of Andhra Pradesh, if accepted, will have serious impact not only on the promotional avenues of the Telangana employees but also effect the recruitment chances of Telangana locals." Earlier, Telangana set aside a proposal to exchange 1,808 employees to Telangana and 1,368 to Andhra Pradesh, calling it impractical and contrary to the spirit of Telangana's state formation. Since 2020, Telangana has taken back over 70% of local employees in last grade services from Andhra Pradesh. By 2022, it accommodated 603 Telangana local employees after final allocations by the Kamalanathan Committee post-bifurcation. This transfer update request by Andhra Pradesh has now stirred concerns among Telangana government employees, spotlighting the delicate balance of inter-state employee management.
