Saudi Arabia Launches Camel Passport to Track and Regulate Camels Nationwide
February 5, 2026
Saudi Arabia has launched the Camel Passport initiative to bring order and trust to the camel industry. This digital and regulatory system gives every registered camel an official ID. The passport records important details like microchip and passport numbers, camel name, breed, gender, color, birth details, and photos for clear identification. It also tracks vaccinations certified by vets. The project was announced by Deputy Minister Mansour Al-Mushaiti and falls under the National Program for the Development of the Livestock and Fisheries Sector. The initiative aims to unify camel data to help with veterinary care and market regulation. It will streamline sales, ownership transfers, and transportation rules to protect owners and assure buyers. By providing accurate data on health and lineage, the passport is set to increase the camels’ market value and transparency both locally and internationally. The collected data will also help improve breeding and plan better livestock management across Saudi Arabia. Overall, the Camel Passport is a big step to modernize and strengthen a vital part of the country’s heritage and economy.
