At the Kottoor Elephant Rehabilitation Centre in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, an elephant named Manu killed a mahout on Thursday, February 5, 2026. Vishnu, the 25-year-old mahout from Venganoor, was attacked during the morning bathing session. Manu first threw Vishnu into the water and then trampled him to death. Despite being rushed to the hospital after other mahouts drove Manu away, Vishnu was declared 'brought dead' by doctors. His body is currently at the Aryanad Government Hospital morgue, police said.
