Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam Performed at Tirupati Temple Ahead of Brahmotsavams
February 5, 2026
Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam, a purificatory ritual before the annual Brahmotsavams, took place on Thursday at the TTD’s Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy temple in Srinivasa Mangapuram, near Tirupati. The temple’s walls, pillars, and ceiling were cleaned with water and sprinkled with a special aromatic mixture. This mix included substances like ‘Namam’ powder, ‘Srichurnam’, ‘Kasturi’ turmeric, edible camphor, sandalwood powder, vermilion, and ‘Kicherigadda’. M. Subramanyam, a local tailor, generously donated two curtains and two ‘Kuralams’ (ceiling covers) to the temple. These gifts were received by Special Grade Deputy Executive Officer V. Varalakshmi, Vigilance Officer B. Giridhar, and Assistant Executive Officer Gopinath. One curtain will be placed at the main threshold before the sanctum sanctorum where the deity Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy resides. The ‘Kuralam’ will cover the ceiling. The nine-day Brahmotsavams will begin with the ‘Dhwajarohanam’ on February 8. Key events include ‘Simha Vahanam’ on February 10, ‘Kalpa Vriksha Vahanam’ on February 11, ‘Pallaki Utsavam’ and ‘Garuda Seva’ on February 12, ‘Swarna Ratham’ on February 13, and the grand ‘Rathotsavam’ on February 15.
