Frisco City Council Meeting Sparks Tension Over Growing Indian-American Community
February 6, 2026
A recent Frisco, Texas, city council meeting became tense over the city's changing population, focusing on the growing Indian-American community. The timing was key, coming after Texas Governor Greg Abbott froze H-1B hiring in state agencies and universities, and the Texas Attorney General launched an investigation into three H-1B companies. Before the meeting, MAGA influencers urged people on social media to attend and complain about what they called the 'Indian takeover' of neighborhoods. Many who spoke at the meeting were reportedly not even Frisco residents. After the meeting, Frisco’s social media channels overflowed with messages targeting Indians. City leaders condemned this behavior. John Keating, a mayoral candidate, wrote a strong statement assuring the Indian community that they are valued. He said, "Targeting members of our Indian community, or any community, is wrong, and it has no place in Frisco." Keating also added, "I heard comments that were deeply hurtful and completely unacceptable. As a veteran, I know the importance of standing up for what is right and defending the dignity of every person who lives here." However, his post attracted backlash, with some questioning why 33% of Frisco’s population is Indian. One speaker, Marc Palasciano, who is not a resident but works for a major Frisco employer, wrote, "I find it more hurtful that City Council members are supporting tyrannical corporations violating the United States Constitution but I guess that’s normal for all of you corrupted politicians." The situation highlights rising local tension around demographic changes amid broader statewide H-1B visa issues.
