On February 6, 2026, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin unveiled a full-length statue of Karl Marx at the Government Museum complex in Egmore, Chennai. The event was attended by many leaders including CPI(M) State secretary P. Shanmugam, CPI State secretary M. Veerapandian, VCK founder Thol. Thirumavalavan, MDMK chief Vaiko, TNCC president K. Selvaperunthagai, and others like CPI(M) leader G. Ramakrishnan and DMK MP T.R. Baalu. Ministers Ma. Subramanian, P.K. Sekarbabu, and E.V. Velu also participated. Mr. Stalin had announced plans for the statue last year on April 2. This unveiling marks a significant tribute to the founding Communist thinker in Tamil Nadu's capital.
