US Backs Pakistan After Deadly Balochistan Attacks by Militants
February 7, 2026
The United States showed strong support for Pakistan following recent militant attacks in Balochistan. On Friday, the US State Department’s Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs said it stood “steadfast with Pakistan” after the horrific violence. It called for action to hold those responsible accountable.
The Bureau reminded that the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) is a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO). The US added the BLA and its alias, the Majeed Brigade, to the FTO list in August last year. This listing helps cut support for terrorist acts.
“We support efforts to hold the perpetrators of these horrific attacks accountable,” said the Bureau.
The Pakistan military recently ended “Operation Radd-ul-Fitna-1” in Balochistan. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the operation killed 216 terrorists in clearance raids after coordinated attacks on January 31 disrupted daily life.
The ISPR said the attackers were Indian-sponsored terrorists. The attacks killed 36 civilians, including women and children, and 22 security forces personnel. The military also recovered many weapons and explosives.
The United Nations also condemned the violence and stressed the need to punish those behind the attacks. The US and global bodies remain watchful as Pakistan fights militancy in Balochistan.
