February 7, 2026
ISLAMABAD: After the terror attack at Imambargah Khadijatul Kubra, 28 bodies and 105 injured victims were brought to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). The hospital declared an emergency and called extra doctors and nurses to help. Rescue teams rushed victims into emergency wards and operation theatres as ambulances arrived quickly from the blast site in Tarlai, near Islamabad. Relatives including women and children gathered, crying and praying loudly. Some women expressed helplessness, saying their main breadwinners were among the victims. Hospital staff handed over 28 bodies to families by late evening. Outside the emergency ward, grieving relatives chanted slogans against terrorism. Two clerics present urged calm to avoid mob violence. Police and district officials coordinated security to keep order. Many victims were from the Hazara community and other areas affected by terrorism who had settled near Islamabad. The funeral prayers for the deceased were set for 11 am Saturday at the attack site. Despite poor mobile network signals in the PIMS area, telecom companies denied deliberately lowering them, blaming heavy user load instead.
