Mysuru Gets 380 CCTV Cameras and New Traffic Police Station to Boost Safety

Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara said on Friday that Mysuru city now has 380 new CCTV cameras to improve safety. He also announced plans to install more cameras soon. Dr. Parameshwara spoke after opening the new Siddharthanagar Traffic Police Station building. This building was built by Karnataka State Police and Karnataka State Police Housing and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited. The Home Minister said Mysuru is famous for its heritage and history. He stressed the need to keep law and order strong to attract more tourists. "Every police station should be treated like a temple, and police personnel must serve the public in a people-friendly manner," he said. He praised the door-to-door police visit programme, saying Karnataka is third in the country. He shared a report showing Bengaluru as the safest city among 120 cities nationwide. Dr. Parameshwara also said plans are in place to split the Udayagiri Police Station. It serves over five lakh people, so a new police station will be set up soon. Krishnaraja MLA T.S. Srivatsa asked for a traffic police station in Kuvempunagar due to increasing tourists. Narasimharaja MLA Tanveer Sait said Mysuru’s environment and forest cover attract tourists. He urged for more tourism development and a society free from addiction and crime. H.D. Kote MLA Anil Kumar C. called for more police stations in H.D. Kote taluk. Other attendees included MLC C.N. Manjegowda, Inspector General of Police H.D. Ganesh, Mysuru City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar, and Superintendent of Police Mallikarjun Baladandi.
