Madanapalle Institute of Technology and Science (MITS) joined hands with Annamayya district police on Saturday to hold a 3K run named “Say No to Drugs – Yes to Life.” The event aimed to warn students and young people about the dangers of drug abuse. MITS Vice-Chancellor C. Yuvaraj said the program was planned to educate students on the harms of drugs and encourage a healthy life. Annamayya district Superintendent of Police Dheeraj Kunubilli, the chief guest, warned, “drug abuse ruins students’ future and destroys families and society.” He advised students to avoid drugs and focus on sports, exercise, and positive thinking for a healthy lifestyle. The SP also urged the youth to aim for academic excellence and cautioned that drugs could stop them from reaching their goals. He added, “They could contact the police if any student was found to be addicted to drugs,” assuring that information would be kept confidential. “By sharing such information, one would be helping a family,” he said. The event’s goal was to guide the youth on the right path and create awareness. Students at MITS also performed a skit on the dangers of drugs at the MITS MSR club. After the performance, the SP flagged off the 3K run. The programme saw the presence of the registrar D. Pradeep Kumar, principal P. Ramanathan, advisor (R&D) R. Thulasiram Naidu, faculty members, and many students.
